At the core of Terminal 2, Hong Kong International Airport, an LED digital art canopy capable of vertical lifting, horizontal shifting and pendular swinging has become the first iconic sight greeting global passengers arriving in Hong Kong. Commissioned by OUTPUT, Dafeng co-developed this innovative art landmark.

The flexible performance of this digital art canopy stems mainly from Dafeng’s full-cycle one-stop service. Dafeng delivered a one-stop solution covering scheme design, precision manufacturing, system integration as well as installation and commissioning, successfully constructing this large multi-degree-of-freedom dynamic mechanical system. It serves not only as the highlight of Hong Kong International Airport’s renovation project, but also as a dual business card showcasing China’s smart manufacturing and Hong Kong’s urban charm to the world.

Multi-DOF Dynamic Art Canopy

The integrated system combines lifting and horizontal shifting interlock functions, enabling composite motions including vertical lifting, horizontal translation and pendulum swing. It interprets spatial aesthetics through multi-dimensional dynamic movements and delivers premium textured visual art effects.

Dafeng provides full-cycle one-stop services for the project, effectively cutting the owner’s coordination costs and project risks.

Large-span Suspension & Dynamic Load Control

With large LED screens suspended for installation, the system needs to take structural bearing capacity, dynamic load, vibration control and long-term fatigue performance into comprehensive consideration, posing great challenges to overall design management.

All-weather Overall Coordination for Hub Construction

As an international hub operating with high passenger density around the clock, the airport is constrained by narrow construction windows and intricate work sequencing. Multi-party overall coordination is required to guarantee construction safety while minimizing disruptions to passenger circulation routes.
