On August 24, music echoed for the first time beneath the dome of the National Theatre in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan. A key tribute project marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, this cultural complex integrating an opera house, concert hall and international conference centre was grandly inaugurated, emerging as Dushanbe’s newest urban calling‑card.
On the opening day, Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, and Rustam Emomali, Mayor of Dushanbe, attended the site. They inspected the operation of each functional area and core system one by one, and spoke highly of the overall quality and presentation effect of the project.
The full set of core systems for the theatre, including stage machinery, lighting, audio‑video equipment and seating, are all supplied by a Chinese enterprise — Dafeng.The National Theatre of Tajikistan consists of a 2,500‑seat opera house, a 1,000‑seat concert hall and a 1,000‑seat international conference centre. It is one of the largest and most technically advanced performing‑arts venues in Central Asia. It can host world‑class opera, ballet and symphony performances as well as large‑scale international conferences, and serves as the country’s most important centre for social, political and cultural events. Behind this national‑level project, Dafeng has not only undertaken the full set of core systems, but also provided end‑to‑end services covering design, construction, installation and commissioning, training and maintenance. Most theatres in Central Asia adopt technical frameworks based on European or Russian standards. For this project, leveraging its world‑leading independent R&D capabilities, Dafeng promoted the direct application of Dafeng’s corporate standards for multiple key technologies. This means that Chinese cultural‑tourism equipment is no longer merely going global by following others’ rules, but starting to participate in and lead international projects with Chinese standards.Thanks to its dual strengths in technology and on‑site delivery capacity, Dafeng stood out in open bidding against well‑established European enterprises and won high recognition from Tajik authorities ranging from management to the project owner.During the project construction, President Emomali Rahmon paid several on‑site visits and spoke highly of the work. He was full of praise in particular for the colour‑matching design of the concert hall seats. After visiting China on an inspection tour, Safari, person‑in‑charge of the project owner, described Dafeng as “the most professional team”. This project has also been selected as a Key Project for International Cooperation in Cultural and Tourism Industries under the Belt and Road Initiative for 2025‑2026 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China.

The “brain” of the theatre is the DAFENG STACON stage control system independently developed by Dafeng. Dafeng is China’s first enterprise in the stage industry to obtain SIL3 safety certification and boasts the most complete certification system in the sector. Operating under the industry’s highest‑level safety standards, the DAFENG STACON stage control system delivers reliable support for all kinds of performances and ensures precise and safe operation of stage machinery under complex scheduling.

The audio‑video system also overcame technical challenges. According to the technical person‑in‑charge of lighting and audio at Dafeng, the project deployed a highly‑integrated stage monitoring system independently developed by Dafeng. It seamlessly links systems including stage machinery, curtains, audio‑video and CCTV, solving the problems of uncontrollable systems from foreign manufacturers and fragmented management of traditional systems. It greatly improves the efficiency of performance scheduling and provides solid support for the professional operation of the theatre.

Finally, by adopting the smallest opening area and optimal opening positions, the team preserved the overall aesthetic of the hall to the greatest extent.

Delivery Challenges: Persistence 6,500 Kilometers Away
From Dafeng’s Yuyao Intelligent Manufacturing Base to Dushanbe, the one‑way distance is 6,500 kilometres with a transportation cycle of 18‑20 days. These figures represent challenges, and also best demonstrate Dafeng’s execution capability. During the project, Dafeng shipped dozens of batches of stage equipment, with more than 180 truckloads totalling over 1,900 tons.Located deep in the hinterland of Central Asia, Dushanbe features a temperate continental climate. Temperatures can soar to 40℃ in the dry season, while continuous rainfall prevails in the rainy season, leaving an extremely limited effective time‑window for construction. Faced with such natural hardships, the Dafeng team remained on the front line. Construction went on even on Chinese New Year’s Eve when the site temperature dropped to ‑13℃. In response to challenges including insufficient site space and difficult equipment installation, project members took the initiative and worked together to overcome obstacles. They completed the whole chain from manufacturing and transportation to installation and commissioning, enabling the theatre to open as scheduled.The successful delivery of the project not only validates Dafeng’s robust delivery capacity in tackling challenges, but also marks that the enterprise has full‑chain competitiveness covering technical R&D, project management, on‑site implementation and other links.As music echoes across the night sky of Dushanbe, this national‑level theatre with in‑depth participation by Chinese enterprises serves not only as an important cultural landmark of Tajikistan, but also a new testament to China‑Tajikistan people‑to‑people exchanges. From the Athens Olympic Games to the Hangzhou Asian Games, from the Bahrain Asian Youth Games to the premiere stage in Tajikistan, Dafeng, through a series of international benchmark projects, is representing Chinese cultural, sports and tourism enterprises to gain a firm foothold and move toward centre‑stage on the global arena.
