This year’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala, themed “Galloping Forward with Unstoppable Momentum,” was broadcast on Chinese New Year’s Eve, once again capturing the attention of audiences around the world. Dafeng participated once again in the construction and operation of the Gala stage, providing comprehensive support from early-stage design and manufacturing to installation, commissioning, and on-site operations. A wide variety of performances, including creative acts, music and dance, acrobatics, traditional opera, martial arts, comedy sketches, and magic, were seamlessly presented throughout the Gala. The entire show progressed smoothly through frequent transitions in stage configurations, coordinated equipment operations, and high-intensity stage movements.

Yan Huafeng, Chief Engineer of Dafeng and technical lead for stage machinery of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala for many years, noted that the highlight of this year’s stage was the seamless integration of technology and artistic creativity. Powered by the Dafeng STACON intelligent control system, the stage established an integrated control network covering all stage machinery subsystems, enabling real-time data interaction and digital coordination. Under unified control, the intelligent stage matrix, screen matrix, curtain matrix, and lighting truss matrix operated in close coordination, ensuring that creative concepts were realized without technical constraints.

Since 2012, the “dancing stage” has become a signature feature of the Gala. This year, a matrix of 154 lifting modules, each measuring 1 meter by 1 meter, enabled rapid reconfiguration of stage forms, delivering diverse and fluid visual transformations tailored to different performances.

In the vibrant performance “Shining in Motion,” stage machinery and visual elements worked in perfect harmony to create a dynamic and energetic environment. Light and shadow interacted with mechanical structures to produce a visually striking space, building intensity and atmosphere that captivated the audience. Behind these effects, the intelligent stage matrix worked in coordination with the screen, curtain, and lighting truss systems to create layered and visually compelling stage compositions. The screen matrix supported independent rotation and translation, enabling effects such as split opening and full-stage crossing, while the curtain system responded dynamically to the rhythm of the music in close synchronization with the lighting structures.

“Every special effect transition and every coordinated movement is the result of countless rounds of testing and calibration,” Yan noted. “Our goal is to make the stage both spectacular and seamless.” These unseen technical efforts ultimately translate into the stunning visual experience witnessed by audiences on New Year’s Eve.
