A New Landmark in the Greater Bay Area: Dafeng Powers the Grand Opening of Longgang International Arts Center

In March 2026, a new cultural landmark has officially emerged on the skyline of eastern Shenzhen, the Longgang International Arts Center. As a major cultural and sports facility under Shenzhen’s 14th Five-Year Plan, this state-of-the-art arts complex is positioned as a leading smart cultural venue in China. Dafeng was responsible for the core stage machinery and lighting systems, bringing world-class performance capabilities to the venue.

The Longgang International Arts Center features a 1501-seat opera house, a 554-seat drama theatre, and a 305-seat concert hall. Dafeng delivered customized, high-standard stage machinery systems for all three venues. The opera house adopts a proscenium stage in a “pin”-shaped configuration, with a fully equipped main stage, side stages, and rear stage, providing maximum flexibility for performances. Six double-layer lifting platforms can be freely combined, enabling dynamic stage transformations that accommodate opera, dance, and a wide range of performance formats.

The stable operation of the entire performance system is powered by a robust “intelligent brain,” the self-developed DAFENG STACON Stage Control System. For this project, Dafeng deployed a SIL3-certified control system, featuring millisecond-level response times and highly reliable performance. This enables synchronized operation across multiple devices and scenarios, ensuring precise execution of artistic concepts.

In addition, Dafeng designed and delivered an industry-leading mobile LED backdrop system for the opera house. Fully developed in-house, from concept and structural design to system integration, this 13-ton LED screen combines an aluminum framework with track and air-cushion mobility technologies, enabling automated linear movement across the stage. What once required dozens of stagehands can now be executed with a single command, allowing seamless scene transitions and uninterrupted visual experiences.

For the stage lighting system, Dafeng developed a professional lighting framework adaptable to diverse performance needs. Equipped with nearly one thousand dimming circuits, the system provides rich and nuanced lighting expression, enhancing the visual impact of the stage.

Notably, Dafeng introduced an innovative detachable lighting truss system in the auditorium balconies, a first-of-its-kind application in domestic theatres. This design allows flexible installation and removal based on the specific requirements of different productions, precisely supporting lighting needs for drama, opera, concerts, and other performance types. Under this system, lighting becomes more than illumination, it serves as a second language of the stage, enriching artistic expression with depth and dynamism.
